The First Traditional Latin Mass at St. Bartholomew in Katy
On June 19, 2020, for the Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, the first Traditional Latin Mass according to the 1962 Missal was celebrated at St. Bartholomew the Apostle Catholic Church in Katy, TX. The first Mass in the original church building was celebrated in 1967 and the current church was completed in 1999 so this was indeed the first TLM at our parish. Celebrating our first TLM with reduced capacity and everyone wearing masks wasn’t what we had intended. We also originally planned to make our first public Mass a High Mass but we had to make hard decisions given the circumstances and I trust God is pleased with our efforts.
Still, it was a joyful event and we are grateful to have a supportive Pastor, Fr. Christopher Plant, and Parochial Vicar, Fr. Ricardo Arriola. Fr. Rick was the celebrant and the church was at full (reduced) capacity. Deo Gratias!
Below you’ll find a selection of the incredible photographs donated by one of our very own parishioners who is the owner of Olive Branch Photography.
